Caring for the team and supporting the local community have been priorities for 20 years
TITAN Zlatna Panega, part of the TITAN Group, is one of the leading producers of high-quality cement and concrete in Bulgaria. For 20 years, TITAN Zlatna Panega has been contributing to improving the standard of living in the region.
This year's edition of the academy took place from July 1 to 19 at the local "Hristo Botev" Primary School. Nearly 35 students from first to seventh grade had the opportunity to catch up on missed lessons from the school year, develop valuable new skills, and explore various professions. The activities were free for the eager-to-learn children and their parents.
On July 18 this year, TITAN Zlatna Panega Cement launched its new project in the field of biodiversity. The initiative is the result of the joint efforts and work of colleagues from the Environmental Protection and Quarry departments and nearly 50 volunteers - employees of the company and contractors, took part in it on the ground.
TITAN Zlatna Panega participated in the Summer Stroi.Academy for the fifth consecutive year. The academy was held from 4 to 7 July in Gabrovo. Each year, the academy, organized by Hobelix Ltd., provides students from schools with specialized study of construction and architecture with the opportunity to gain practical skills and experience.
At the beginning of July, the TITAN Zlatna Panega team welcomed a group of 10th-grade students from the Sofia High School of Construction, Architecture, and Geodesy "Hristo Botev" to its plant. This visit was organized as part of the school's practical program and aimed to connect their classroom learning with real-world industry practices.
In June, the Environmental Protection Department of TITAN Zlatna Panega organized an exciting educational initiative - a training lesson on "Fly fishing" in the village of Rumyantsevo. The event was held jointly with the representatives of the fishing club "Stari Vidri." They were joined by 15 pupils and two teachers from the "Vasil Levski" Primary School in the village of Oreshene, the "Lyuben Karavelov" Primary School in Zlatna Panega, and Hristo Botev Primary School in Rumyantsevo.
Titan Zlatna Panega supported the participation of students from the innovative cinema class at the United School "Neofit Rilski" in the village of Dermanci in the tenth edition of the film festival "Encounters of Young European Cinema." Thanks to the company's support, the students, their teacher and supervisor - Daniel Simeonov, presented the short film they had created - "Thursday" at the festival, which took place from 22 to 28 June.
At the end of May, TITAN employees together with local hobby fishermen and students from the village of. Oreshne planted the river Zlatna Panega with 7, 500 small trout fishes. The initiative has been running for many years and aims at supporting the natural population of the Balkan trout (Salmo trutta fario), the most valuable and fast-disappearing species in Bulgarian rivers, as well as the sustainable development of the settlements along the river by attracting tourists and fans of the attractive fishing.
Students from two schools - the National Professional High School of Forestry and Woodworking "Sava Mladenov" in Teteven and Secondary School "Vasil Levski" in Yablanitsa, took part in the Safety Driving campaign of TITAN Zlatna Panega. The campaign, named "Drive Carefully. Arrive Safely," emphasizes key rules for safe driving and supports future drivers in their professional development.
On 25 April 2024, Mr. Dimitrios Mihas - Head of the Department for Economic and Commercial Affairs at the Embassy of the Republic of Greece in Bulgaria, visited the TITAN Zlatna Panega plant. During his visit, he met with Mr. Adamantios Frantzis, General Manager of TITAN Zlatna Panega and Mr. Milen Stanoev, Plant Manager.
Nearly 300 employees and subcontractors are participating in the Safety Driving campaign of TITAN Zlatna Panega, titled "Drive Carefully. Arrive Safely." The campaign launched its first initiative with the assistance of Safety Driving Academy founded by eight-time rally champion of Bulgaria, Dimitar Iliev. For three days - from April 24th to 26th, employees had the opportunity to go through four simulators and experience situations such as car overturning, frontal collision, as well as understand the distortion of reality while driving under the influence of alcohol with special ALCO glasses.
At the end of March, to commemorate World Water Day (March 22), TITAN Zlatna Panega organized a presentation on the topic "Water, without which we cannot live! Water purification." 57 students and 8 teachers from four schools in the plant region attended the presentation. It included a tour of the wastewater treatment plant of the municipality of Yablanitsa and a demonstration of the problems related to water pollution. The students had the opportunity to gain new knowledge about the importance of water and to familiarize themselves with modern methods of water purification.
TITAN Zlatna Panega received the award in the category "Bronze Partner" at the eighth consecutive event honoring the most significant corporate partners of the SOS Children's Villages Bulgaria Association. The official ceremony took place at the end of March at the Metropolitan Hotel. It was attended by representatives of SOS Children's Villages Bulgaria, children from foster families in Sofia, and family homes in Veliko Tarnovo and Gabrovo.

On November 3rd, our plant had the honour of hosting Mr. Cobus, the Group CEO, and Mr. Paniaras, the Group Executive Director for Europe and Sustainability. The purpose of their visit was toseeour new Alternative Fuel installation in operation, which represents one of the most significant Group investments of the past year.

TITAN Zlatna Panega AD won a gold award in the competition "The Greenest Companies in Bulgaria". The prestigious first prize in the category "Industry and Manufacturing Sector" was awarded to TITAN for the company's responsibility to follow a sustainable business model of work and development over the years.
TITAN Bulgaria 2021 Integrated Annual Report outlines the company’s financial, environmental and social performance of the company.
This Report is assured by an independent Business Assurance Company at the Advanced Level of Communication on Progress according to the United Nations Global Compact criteria.
H. E. Jes Brogaard Nielsen, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Denmark to Bulgaria, visited TITAN Zlatna Panega's plant. During his visit Ambassador Nilsson discussed with Adamantios Frantzis, General Manager of the company, the strategy for climate change mitigation, a top priority in the activities of the world leader in cement production TITAN. For one year, TITAN Bulgaria has reduced the specific emissions of carbon dioxide by 4%. At the same time, the company in Bulgaria reaches the highest rate of substitution of conventional (fossil) fuels with alternative fuels, which consist of more than 30% carbon-neutral biomass.
The Integrated Annual report 2020 was prepared as an attempt to best communicate to stakeholders the company’s sustainability strategy, priorities and performance in 2020 ensuring a high level of transparency through a third-party assurance.
We at TITAN Bulgaria support the motivation and assistance of young people in their first steps on career path. That is why we support youth initiatives such as those of Hobelix. During the Leaders Summer Academy project, the participants face the world of architecture and construction, while gathering knowledge, acquiring skills and having fun.
TITAN Bulgaria annually supports and helps the development of the area where Zlatna Panega Cement plant is located. Our focus is on the support of sports clubs and initiatives, which we hope will help keep young people in the region. We believe that strengthening traditions in sports helps build a healthy lifestyle, cultivates perseverance in young people, will and discipline, creates new friendships and a cohesive community.
TITAN Bulgaria participated in the 5th season of Leader’s Academy – an initiative hosted by the youth organization Hobelix and supported by the commitment of the most successful companies in the construction industry in Bulgaria. The Academy is a 2-months long simulator of working environment which enables 20 preliminarily selected students and recent graduated architects, structural and urban planning engineers to get in contact and gain knowledge from managers of the partnering companies.
TITAN Annual General Meeting of Shareholders was held on 13 May in Nicosia, Cyprus. It resulted in the approval of all agenda items. Taking into consideration the exceptional situation linked to the pandemic and the restrictions in Cyprus in respect of social distancing, the Board of Directors encouraged all shareholders to participate in the Meeting remotely, either by sending a proxy or by voting remotely by correspondence before the Meeting, or by voting remotely during the Meeting.
TITAN Cement Group, underscoring its enduring commitment to sustainability and value creation for all, released its Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) targets for 2025 and beyond. The targets include an updated, more ambitious, CO2 reduction goal for 2030, aligned with the vision of the European Green Deal to achieve climate neutrality by 2050.
Zlatna Panega Cement AD won first place in the medium-size enterprise category in the competition “Annual National Awards for Health and Safety” for 2020. The competition is organized by the Centre for Safety and Health at Work Foundation, under the auspices and with the assistance of the Executive Agency General Labour Inspectorate at the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare.
TITAN Bulgaria was included in the second edition of the State of CSR in Bulgaria 2020 report. The study is held by CSR AdviceBox and Junction Bulgaria among the TOP 300 employers in the country, identified by the ICAP annual report "Leading Employers in Bulgaria" 2019.
TITAN Zlatna Panega Cement AD was awarded a Diploma and a plaque for a donor of Teteven Municipality thanks to its contributions to regional and long-term work of public importance.
With great sadness TITAN Cement Group has announced the passing of Theodoros Papalexopoulos, a truly emblematic figure of the Group for five decades. A natural leader, visionary and a caring person, he was one of the main architects of the values that are at the core of our Group today.
He served as Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors and later as Advisor to the Group.
TITAN Bulgaria participates in the European Green Week 2020, which is organized by the European Union from 19 through 23 October. The focal points of the conference this year are nature and biodiversity, the main sub-topics - the contribution of biodiversity to society and economy and its role for stimulating recovery in the post-pandemic period.

TITAN Group has published its 2018 Integrated Annual Report, which outlines the Group’s financial, environmental and social performance. In 2018, TITAN delivered a solid, stable financial performance and made good progress towards meeting the environmental and social targets set for 2020, which are fully aligned with the UN Sustainability Development Goals 2030 (SDGs). TITAN navigated successfully the challenges in several of its regions of operation and capitalized on the opportunities that markets such as the US continue to offer.
On June 21, 2019, Friday at 9:00 am in Hilton Hotel, Sofia, was held a conference “Business and Regions”, organized by “Economist” Magazine and the Bulgarian Industrial Association.
On May 30th and 31st 40 newly appointed inspectors by the General Labour Inspectorate, Executive Agency (GLI EA) visited Zlatna Panega Cement AD.
TITAN Bulgaria’s case studies – “Non-Financial Reporting” and “Business Strategy and the UN Sustainable Development Goals” are included in the newest Corporate Sustainability and Responsibility textbook by Marina Stefanova, PhD. This is the first corporate sustainability and responsibility textbook in Bulgaria, which summarizes theory, expertise and good business practices in thirty different directions of strategic business management, oriented towards sustainable growth and leadership of companies in society.
In June 2018, TITAN Zlatna Panega received a certificate for “A Company Giving Wings to the Bulgarian Education”. The contest for businesses, that have a significant contribution to the Bulgarian education, was initiated by the Centre for Inclusive Education and held in May during the “Days of Inclusion 2018: Give Them Wings” campaign.
On May 8th, 2018, Zlatna Panega river was planted with fishes from the species Balkan trout (Salmo trutta fario). The Balkan trout is the most valuable and the most vulnerable species in the Bulgarian rivers and is typical for the Zlatna Panega River. Zlatna Panega Cement AD, in cooperation with the Fisherman club „Stari vidri”, started this initiative 4 years ago. The aim of the fish planting is to strengthen the natural population of the species and to support the sustainable development of the villages along the river by attracting tourists, fond of trout fishing.
On 20April 2018, TITAN Bulgaria held the annual spring cleaning of the Zlatna Panega river. The initiative is part of the “Adopt the Zlatna Panega River” project. This year, again, the campaign drew a lot of interest – more than 100 volunteers took part, including TITAN’s and its subcontractors’ employees (“Pepo 2000”, “Invest M”), fishermen from the “Old Otters” Fisher Club, students and teachers from the schools in the villages of Zlatna Panega, Oreshene, Brestnitsa and Rumyantsevo.
TITAN Bulgaria became a sponsor of the Architectural Heritage Days festival’s first edition, held on 3 and 4 February 2018 in the cultural film center “Dom na kinoto” in Sofia. The Architectural Heritage Organization by the Association of Architects in Bulgaria and the Art Network for Cultural Heritage organized the festival as part of the events, taking place all around Europe throughout the European Year of Cultural Heritage.
Ms. Boryana Yotzova, Director of Concrete Operations Department, shared the experience of TITAN Bulgaria with the topic "Sustainable Concrete" in a conference entitled “Innovations for Competitiveness. The Basic Industries – a Drive for Growth”. The conference took place on 31 January 2018 in Sofia. The event was organized by the Bulgarian Association of the Metallurgical Industry (BAMI), The Bulgarian Chamber of Chemical Industry (BCCI) and The Bulgarian Federation of Industrial Energy Consumers (BFIEC).
Liaison Delegates for Corporate social responsibility from all business units of the TITAN Group took part in a sustainability meeting in Athens, Greece. The meeting took place on 30 January 2018. It was organized by the TITAN Group Corporate Social Responsibility department. TITAN Bulgaria was represented by Ms. Luba Nikiforova and Ms. Karina Delcheva.
The Bulgarian Network of the United Nations Global Compact presented a proposal for the National Action plan of Bulgaria for the European Pact4Youth on a special event held on 30 January 2018. The European Pact for Youth, initiated by the biggest European business network bringing together the responsible businesses - CSR Europe, is a mutual engagement of the business and the EU leaders.
In September 2017, TITAN Bulgaria supported for the second time the initiative „Travelling School of Karst’’ of the National Institute of Geophysics, Geodesy and Geography (NIGGG) at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, as the plant in the village of Zlatna Panega was included in the project program.
In the middle of July 2017, a small bird of prey was found on the plant premises in Zlatna Panega. The bird, which later turned out to be a young male representative of the protected falcon species, was scared, very weak and infected with parasites.
In May 2017, TITAN Bulgaria organized a birdwatching event for the pupils, who participate in the ecological clubs in the schools of the Zlatna Panega and Rumyantsevo villages. Employees of the Environmental Protection Department of the company, Mr. Lubomir Profirov, Environmental Consultant „Ornithology and Protected Areas” and Ms. Antonia Dimovska, representative of the Bulgarian Society for the Protection of Birds also took part in the initiative.
Pupils from the Zlatna Panega village made a film on ecological issues supported by Zlatna Panega Cement AD and a karst specialist from BAS. The film is a product of the pupils' participation in the „School Miracles” project. In this project, the participants choose an issue of importance to the local community and work to create solutions for this issue. The team of pupils from Zlatna Panega chose to address the issue of the clean drinking water in their village and the role of each member of the local community in its preservation.
In spring 2017, Zlatna Panega Cement AD conducted for a fifth consecutive year the annual river cleaning campaign. Organized for the first time in 2013, today this initiative has become a tradition, uniting the efforts of a constantly increasing number of volunteers for a cleaner environment and a better image of the region.

On 2nd and 3rd November, 2016, TITAN Bulgaria hosted a Sustainability meeting. The meeting was attended by representatives from both - TITAN Group and TITAN Bulgaria. The Group was represented by Mr. Yianni Paniaras, Executive Director TITAN Greece and Group Corporate Affairs Director, Mr. Christos Panagopoulos, Executive Director for Turkey and Bulgaria, Mrs. Maria Alexiou, Group Corporate Social Responsibility Senior Manager and Mrs. Lydia Yiannskopoulou, Group Corporate Communications Senior Manager.
This year, on the 1st of June, was organized a special Children's Day in the municipality of Yablanitsa on the initiative of Zlatna Panega Cement AD.
On 30th May 2016, on the invitative of Zlatna Panega Cement AD the community center in the town of Yablanitsa was host to the Golemanov theatre play presented by the Melpomena theatre group of Sofia.
On 28th April 2016, in the spirit of last year’s initiative of Zlatna Panega Cement AD and “The Old Otters” Fisher Club, Zlatna Panega River fish stocking was conducted by volunteers of the Fisher club.
In April 2016 “The Change Begins from Us” project was successfully completed. It was jointly developed and implemented by the Bulgarian Charities Aid Foundation in partnership with C.E.G.A. Foundation (NGO specialized in Roma integration projects) with the active support of Zlatna Panega Cement AD. Main objectives of the project were promoting active citizenship, volunteering, and participation of young people in activities of social value. To meet these goals, youths with leadership qualities from the Oreshene, Zlatna Panega and Brestnitsa villages in Yablanitsa Municipality were selected
On 25th March 2016, on the occasion of the World Water Day, took place the annual spring cleaning of Zlatna Panega River organized by Zlatna Panega Cement JSC.
Mr. Alexander Chakmakov personally presented the key aspects of the new platform to the event attendees. He stated that the need to ensure effective leadership through providing clarity, decisiveness and authentic engagement was one of the main reasons to create the platform. He also made a point that the teams of leading companies faced the contemporary challenges of doing business, such as hyper competition worldwide, overcapacity, decreasing profitability, dynamically changing business factors and the need of quick decision-making, overcoming inertia and resistance to change.
Zlatna Panega Cement AD hosted the meeting for the International day of the occupational health and safety in 2015 which was organized by Foundation Center for Occupational Health and Safety. The hosts were chosen because of the company’s first place in the contest for good practices in the Annual competition for occupational health and safety in 2015.
On May 16th2014 TITAN Bulgaria celebrated its 10thanniversary in the region of Zlatna Panega where TITAN had acquired the cement plant.
On May 12th2014 Zlatna Panega Cement AD was the host of the regional competition for young firefighting teams “Young Firefighter”. This is a common initiative of the Lovech Regional Directorate “Fire Safety and Civil Protection”, the Regional Education Inspectorate, Yablanitsa Municipality and Zlatna Panega Cement AD.
This year’s spring cleaning campaign of Zlatna Panega Cement AD took place on April 11, 2014. The campaign was dedicated to Zlatna Panega river and was supported by volunteers from the Old Otters Fishing Club and the Sergey Rumyantsev Vocational High School of Agriculture in Lukovit (Lovech region). The end result was: 1,800 tons of separated waste were delivered to Zlatna Panega Cement plant’s refuse-derived fuel (RDF) installation for preliminary processing and subsequent utilization at the kilns for cement clinker.
On March 21, 2014, the Sergey Rumyantsev Vocational High School of Agriculture in the town of Lukovit (Lovech region) hosted an Eco Conference organized by the Director of the school, Mrs. Rumyana Georgieva.
The Eco Conference was dedicated to the preservation of water habitats and sustainable use of water resources. It was part of a series of environmental activities aimed at preserving biodiversity along the Zlatna Panega River and raising awareness of local environmental issues among the local population as part of the Adoption of the Zlatna Panega River project.
On February 28, a representative of Zlatna Panega Cement AD attended an Eco Conference at Hristo Botev Primary School in the village of Brestnitsa (Lovech Region). The Conference was organized by schoolchildren in first through fourth grades under the guidance of a young teacher from Teach for Bulgaria Foundation. The aim of the Conference was to encourage the pupils to share their views about environment protection and relate what they do to help Mother Nature.
National Awards for Occupational Health and Safety were given out onDecember 20at a formal ceremony atHotel ImperialinPlovdiv.
The event was attended by the Bulgarian Minister of Labour and Social Policy, Mr. Hasan Ademov, his deputies, Mrs. Svetlana Dyankova and Mr. Lazar Lazarov, the Executive Director of the General Labour Inspectorate Executive Agency, Mrs. Rumyana Mihaylova, and the Agency’s regional directors.

We achieved this impressive result thanks to all of you who realized that complying with occupational health and safety rules is crucial to protecting your own life and that of your colleagues.
In the bird nesting season, there is a risk for the little chicks to fall out of the bird nest during storms, strong wind or rainfall. This June, more than 20 baby swallows were found by TITAN Bulgaria employees next to the clinker silo at our cement plant in Zlatna Panega. Following a consultation with a veterinary physician from Green Balkans’ Wildlife Rehabilitation and Breeding Centre in Stara Zagora and biodiversity experts from the Regional Inspectorate of Environment and Water in Pleven, the little swallows were given water with a pipette and put in the nearest swallow nests.
TITAN Bulgaria’s Occupational Health and Safety Department develops safe work practices that are applied successfully at our cement plant in the village of Zlatna Panega to realize our goal of “zero accidents”.
To make popular one of our most successful practices – our Permit to Work (PTW) system – we published an article in Caring for the People magazine of the Occupational Health and Safety Centre Foundation.
On November 11, 2013, TITAN Bulgaria hosted a meeting of the delegates to the General Assembly of the National Association for Health and Safety at Work. The meeting was entitled Ways to Create a Positive Culture of Health & Safety at Work and was attended by health and safety managers who had the chance to see for themselves TITAN Bulgaria’s approach to creating and sustaining a positive culture of health and safety at work and in life.
In October, TITAN Bulgaria organized a quarry rehabilitation event for students from the Golden River Environmental Club at Sergey Rumyantsev Vocational High School of Agriculture (VHSA) in Lukovit, Bulgaria, as part of TITAN Group’s Corporate Social Responsibility Policy.
The students planted 153 common ash saplings in a section of the Zlatna Panega quarry that had been planned for rehabilitation. The young trees will be watered regularly to ensure their proper growth and development.
The positive trends witnessed in the course of 2013 appeared to strengthen, despite continuing uncertainties and difficult market conditions prevailing in certain TITAN Group markets. The impact of a solidifying recovery in the USA and the resilient demand in Egypt, coupled with the increase in exports out of Greece, counterbalanced the continued decline of the Greek domestic market and the subdued construction activity in Southeastern Europe.
Aris Papadopoulos, CEO of Titan America LLC, was recently awarded the Concrete Sustainability Award by the American Concrete Institute at its fall convention in Phoenix, Arizona. The award was presented by ACI President, Anne Ellis.
Representatives from CSI member companies participated in the Business Leaders Forum of the Summit and demonstrated the newly launched Global Water Tool (GWT) for the Cement Sector to summit participants.
TITAN Bulgaria General Manager, Mr. Alexander Chakmakov, visited 8th graders at the Neophyte of Rila High School in Sofia as part of the Teach for Bulgaria program. Mr. Chakmakov won the hearts and minds of the young football talents with the story of the sporting career of his father – renowned Bulgarian football player Nako Chakmakov. He also told them his own success story.
For seven years now, Chess Game Ltd. has been publishing Chess in School, a specialized children's magazine for young chess enthusiasts. Chess is taught as an optional subject in many Bulgarian schools which use the magazine as a supplementary textbook.
Chess in School is intended for pupils who practice the game of chess – a game which helps them express their intellectual talents and develop their personal qualities.
On April 26, 2013, TITAN Bulgaria organized a voluntary cleaning initiative which covered roads E83 and 103, the surroundings of our cement plant in Zlatna Panega and the Glava Panega protected area.The initiative drew in 82 volunteers – TITAN Bulgaria employees and employees of companies operating at the cement plant.The volunteers separated all collected waste into combustible (paper, plastic, packages, and textile) and non-combustible (glass, construction waste, and metal).

In the light of TITAN Bulgaria’s Corporate Social Responsibility policy the company has joined theDonation Campaign "Bulgaria is with you". With the funds raised from the campaign and the additional donations made by several large Bulgarian companies, 30 new family houseswere built in the village of Bisserand completed on schedule by October 2012.
For a third year in a row the company “Zlatna Panega Cement” AD has been nominated for the National rewards for occupational health and safety. The contest has been organized by the Executive Agency “General Labour Inspectorate” and aims to encourage the activities, related to prevention and control of the work related risk by actively involving all stakeholders.
„Zlatna Panega Cement” Jsc. has taken part in European year dedicated to active life of adults and solidarity between generations – 2012, presenting its good practices in this field. Plant management policy is bonded with establishment and maintenance of proper working conditions for the eldest workers.
In connection with Titan Group Strategy on the Corporate Social Responsibilities and following company’s policy and Plan on protection and enhancement of biodiversity in the area, Zlatna Panega Management undertook some activities for protection of local flora species (orchid species), having a status of protected species endangered by demolishing of its habitat - Spiranthes spyralis.

We are pleased to announce that effective 05.04.2011 the new Titan Bulgaria WEB site launched .
On 13.08.2010 a new concrete plant of Titan Zlatna Panega Beton started in operation at the construction site of IKEA - Sofia. The project is planned for a year and the forecasted quantity of concrete will be about 50'000m3. The plant is completely automated with Protem-SA software andhas an average capacity of 70m3/h.
