02.05.2024On 25 April 2024, Mr. Dimitrios Mihas - Head of the Department for Economic and Commercial Affairs at the Embassy of the Republic of Greece in Bulgaria, visited the TITAN Zlatna Panega plant. During his visit, he met with Mr. Adamantios Frantzis, General Manager of TITAN Zlatna Panega and Mr. Milen Stanoev, Plant Manager.
"One of the main activities of the Trade Mission of the Embassy is to build contact between the Bulgarian and Greek authorities and thus support cooperation and the creation of partnerships between the entrepreneurial communities of the two countries", shared Mr. Mihas during the conversation.
"Our goal is to be close to the companies that work on the Bulgarian market and to support their development with all the possibilities of diplomacy," he added.
Mr. Frantzis introduced his guest to the history of the plant and its achievements in reducing the environmental footprint and producing sustainable products. He also did not hide the challenges that TITAN's operation in Bulgaria faces, namely the lack of highly qualified staff, as well as the application of the European directive "Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism - CBAM", which should re-establish a level playing field between European products and imported one and introducing a carbon tax to imports similar to the cost paid by European producers.
"We are a company that is oriented towards sustainability in every aspect. We take care of our employees, our business partners and the area in which we operate. Being an important contributor to the local economy we support the villages around Zlatna Panega to be attractive to young people, encouraging them to live and work here," emphasized Mr. Frantzis.
During the tour of the factory, Mr. Stanoev shared details with Mr. Mihas about the cement production, which was particularly interesting to him. "I'm impressed by the scale of the enterprise, but most of all by the dedication with which people work here and the exceptional safety measures that are implemented," said Mr Mihas as he departed.
