At the end of May, TITAN employees together with local hobby fishermen and students from the village of. Oreshne planted the river Zlatna Panega with 7, 500 small trout fishes. The initiative has been running for many years and aims at supporting the natural population of the Balkan trout (Salmo trutta fario), the most valuable and fast-disappearing species in Bulgarian rivers, as well as the sustainable development of the settlements along the river by attracting tourists and fans of the attractive fishing.

Ekaterina Shilegarska, Ivanina Chulkova, Albena Pophristova and Irena Petrova from the Environmental Protection Department, as well as Georgi Georgiev from the Electro Department of TITAN Zlatna Panega actively participated in the event. They were joined by ten pupils from the "Vasil Levski" Primary School, village of. Oreshene, their teacher, as well as four hobby fishermen with whom the company has been working for more than ten years.

The fish planting started from the town of Lukovit and continued along the river towards the villages of Rumyantsevo, Petrevene and Zlatna Panega. The fish were tempered and carefully introduced to the new environment by all participants. Representatives of the Executive Agency for Fisheries and Aquaculture and Regional Inspectorates for Environment and Water, which support the project, were also present at the release of the fish into the river.

"We are happy that after a short interruption, we were able to restart this key initiative. It has a long-term effect and we are glad that we managed to attract the local community to it, thanks to our long experience and the results of the already implemented initiatives" - said Ekaterina Shiligarska, Sustainable Development and Environmental Protection Manager in TITAN Zlatna Panega.

Environmental protection and biodiversity is one of the strategic themes of TITAN Zlatna Panega.
