For the second year in a row, TITAN Zlatna Panega supported the students from Primary School “Neofit Rilski’’ in the village of Dermantzi and their participation in this year’s edition of the “Meetings of young European cinema” festival. The theme of the film with which the students participated was dedicated to the initiative for the conservation of wild pollinators, which the company organized.

To celebrate Earth Day, TITAN Zlatna Panega organized a large-scale ecological initiative for the smallest, yet most vital part of our ecosystem – the pollinators. The initiative is part of the company’s ongoing efforts to sustain and enrich biodiversity in the region, while continuing its promise of sustainable growth in the area. The event gathered more than 30 of the company’s employees close to the artificial lake that was built last year, which is located next to the plant.

With the help of their teacher, Daniel Simeonov, the students who are a part of his “Cinema” class recorded all the activities organized by the initiative: “This is our world – small, filled with questions, lenses and grand answers…That is what I teach them.” – is what the teacher from OBU “Neofit Rilski” shared with us.

The students assembled and painted the future homes of the bee families, which are already positioned near the plant and consist of 12 beehives. The children also captured the creation process of a few “hotels for insects”, which will act as an additional safe space for the pollinators to inhabit. Additionally, they took the roles of curious journalists and interviewed the employees of TITAN Zlatna Panega during the different initiative activities.

The “Meetings of young European cinema” festival took place between the 19th and the 26th of June in the city of Sofia, where the kids presented their completed short film “Where the bees fly”. The creativity of the young volunteers was inspiring as the students also debuted their other short film, “Waiting,” during the festival at the French Institute in Sofia. The film debuted two months ago at the Sorbonne in Paris in front of an international audience, consisting of 16 countries and 4 continents.

“We support innovative education, encourage the local youth community, and strongly believe that sustainable growth means to invest in people and the planet, not just in its infrastructure,” – said Diliyan Georgiev, head of administrative services and CSR at TITAN Zlatna Panega.
