Nearly 30 employees of TITAN Zlatna Panega, together with students and members of the local community, took part in a pollinator protection initiative
30.04.2025On Earth Day, TITAN Zlatna Panega organized a large-scale environmental initiative dedicated to pollinators, some of our ecosystem's smallest but most important members. The event brought together over 30 employees near the artificial lake built last year, adjacent to the cement plant. They were joined by students from Neofit Rilski Primary School in the village of Dermantsi and local community members.
Participants assembled and painted future homes for bee colonies-12 beehives in total, as well as several “bug hotels” that will provide a safe habitat for wild pollinators, who are among nature’s most vital yet often underappreciated creatures. To ensure a pleasant and inclusive experience, TITAN Zlatna Panega provided transportation, materials, snacks, and refreshments for everyone involved.
“At TITAN Zlatna Panega, we care not only about industry, but also about the nature surrounding us. Every industry should strive to do the same, to ensure a better tomorrow for the generations after us. This event fills me with pride and hope because I saw dozens of volunteers working shoulder to shoulder with boundless enthusiasm for the future of our planet. Together, we proved that we can follow the right path toward a sustainable future with unity, responsibility, and love for nature,” shared Milen Stanoev, Plant Manager at TITAN Zlatna Panega.
The event was also attended by Ekaterina Shilegarska, Environment and Sustainability Manager, for whom protecting the environment and biodiversity is not just a professional duty but a personal belief, Petko Petkov, Head of Quarry Operations, and Dilyan Georgiev, Head of the Administrative Services and CSR Department, whose driving force in his work is the people of the region and what he learns from them.
All volunteers participated enthusiastically and dedicatedly. The students from Neofit Rilski School, led by their teacher Daniel Simeonov, who teaches the innovative subject “Cinema,” documented the entire process and interviewed plant employees. The footage will be edited and screened from June 19 to 26, 2025, as part of the “Young European Cinema Encounters” festival in Sofia. TITAN Zlatna Panega will support the students' participation in the festival for a second consecutive year.
The event concluded with a picnic and barbecue, during which participants shared impressions and the joy of their collective contribution. As a gift, each participant received a jar of honey and a lavender plant—a token to continue supporting pollinators at home.
The initiative is part of TITAN Zlatna Panega’s ongoing commitment to preserving and enhancing biodiversity in the region while reinforcing its dedication to the sustainable development of local communities. It successfully illustrates how environmental protection strategies and corporate social responsibility (CSR) can intersect, engaging youth, supporting biodiversity, and strengthening TITAN Zlatna Panega’s identity as a responsible and community-oriented company.
