Dozens of students, teachers and parents took part in the inspiring „green“ initiative for crafting and assembling bird feeders, organised by TITAN Zlatna Panega. In November, the company held two events aimed at protecting local biodiversity and fostering environmental awareness among students in the villages of Malka Brestnitsa and Zlatna Panega.

Ambitions for a Cleaner, Greener and More Welcoming Place to Live

The initiative kicked off on 11 November at Primary School Hristo Botev in the village of Malka Brestnitsa. The event brought together nearly 50 children, teachers and parents who joined discussions and activities dedicated to environmental protection. The second event took place on 25 November at Primary School Lyuben Karavelov in Zlatna Panega, where 15 students and teachers enthusiastically participated, demonstrating their active willingness to contribute to the preservation of the natural environment.

With great enthusiasm, participants at both events created their own bird feeders and filled them with seeds to help feed wild birds during the approaching winter months.

The students also reviewed the school’s environmental activities from the past year, including waste collection, cleanup of polluted areas, and the distribution of informational materials designed to raise environmental awareness among the local community. The communities expressed their ambition to transform their home villages into cleaner, more organised, and welcoming places to live.

TITAN Zlatna Panega’s Support

To implement the initiative, TITAN Zlatna Panega provided the necessary materials for making bird feeders and a variety of suitable seeds for winter feeding. The company’s environmental experts introduced the students to the bird species typical for the region, which are expected to be the most frequent visitors of the newly installed feeders. They also explained the importance of feeding birds during the winter months.

They are also good bioindicators and give early signals of changes in the environment. Therefore, for more than 10 years, our company has been working with experts in ornithology, with whom we monitor and support the ornitofauna in the area of the cement plant,”said Ekaterina Shilegarska, Sustainability and Environmental Protection Manager at TITAN Zlatna Panega.
