TITAN Bulgaria participates in the European Green Week 2020, which is organized by the European Union from 19 through 23 October. The focal points of the conference this year are nature and biodiversity, the main sub-topics - the contribution of biodiversity to society and economy and its role for stimulating recovery in the post-pandemic period.

The European Cement Association (CEMBUREAU), the representative organization of the cement industry in Europe and its “speaker” before the EU institutions, will have a virtual stand during the Green Week. At it, the CEMBUREAU will present the policy of the industry and companies’ practices for protecting and restoring of ecosystems and biodiversity. At the virtual stand, TITAN will present its best practices for rehabilitation of quarries for extracting raw materials. Mrs. Ekaterina Shilegarska, Head of TITAN Bulgaria’s Environmental Department, will be one of the virtual hosts of the stand. She will interact directly with all visitors to the European Green Week who are willing to learn more about the conservation and restoration of nature as part of the activities of cement plants.

The European Green Week is held in Lisbon, Portugal, and Brussels, Belgium. It is accompanied by a number of events for stakeholders, including representatives of the local authorities, NGOs, and the business. This year’s edition of the European Green Week is of paramount importance for the UN Biodiversity Conference, planned for 2021, where world leaders will adopt a 10-year action plan for biodiversity – the new global agreement for people and nature.
